Hi Everyone, Happy Friday! Time for some laughs :) I posted a couple of funny videos for your entertainment! I agree with what happens in the "honest video about the Facebook Ad", even if it is a little exaggerated, we should not be checking our Facebook statuses while driving! And if by chance you live under a rock, and missed the Royal Wedding, here is a video of it LOL!
Thanks for visiting my blog,

Unfoldment
Happy Tuesday my friends, I was on the OM Times website last night and I came across this article by Maria Khalifé titled Competing with Yourself. I love her perspective on Self Improvement, and/or as she calls it Self Competition. The idea that we are "born with all that we would become, intrinsically wrapped up inside of us, just waiting to be unfolded" gives me a new sense of hope for myself. That all I need to grow is already inside of me, waiting for me to be ready to tap into it. That I am where I should be, even though I don't want to be where I am at. It is inside me to achieve what I want, and I will get to where I want to be! Ya I like that idea, maybe all is not lost on a brighter future for me LOL! There are a lot of great articles on their website. I suggest you check it out if you are looking for some inspiration and help with spirituality and self-growth.
Thanks for visiting my blog,
Have a good one,
Janet :)
“The principle is competing against yourself. It’s about self-improvement, about being better than you were the day before.”
~ Steve Young
The sense of striving and competition must surely be inbred or part of our survival mechanism because each of us does it from the earliest days of our lives. I think that moderate competition is an okay idea; severe competition may not be. But what if you only compete with yourself?
What would happen, though, if you had been taught from your earliest days to only compete with yourself – your own last victory? Every single one of us wants to know inside that we are capable of achieving our next victory, that we can accomplish one more good thing if we stretch ourselves a bit. This is how we grew from our infant stage to the adult stage.
Our earlier accomplishments became the foundation upon which we grew. And interestingly enough, it’s our own sense of achievement that holds the carrot that makes us run in front of our own face. We really don’t look for others to award and applaud us. We look inward to our own dear Self to award and applaud us. We are the one who knows just how far we stretched ourselves the last time, and we are the one who knows best just what it took to stretch some more, so who best to reward us?
Many in the world would label this kind of competition “improvement.” I would call it “unfoldment.” I believe each of us was born with all that we would become intrinsically wrapped up inside of us just waiting to be unfolded. It is this infinity of possibilities that knocks on the door of our hearts and souls and says “Let’s try this!” and we are off and running. Our motivations, our stretching, are internal and individual. Your sense of what may look to others like competitiveness is simply your desire to unfold more of yourself – you only compete with yourself.
Your inner score keeper knows when and if you are capable of more, and he/she may be a very demanding voice. You alone know when it’s time to do more, to stretch more, to achieve more. You alone know what our inner vision of success is. You alone know when to exercise patience and when to strive forward again. You know when the energy level is perfect. You know that we are not here to serve the desires of anyone but ourselves, so you only compete with yourself if you want to remain balanced, satisfied and at peace.

Good Friday
Hi Everyone, I hope your doing well today, I'm doing good. On this Good Friday I am reflecting on what this day meant to me growing up. I was raised with the Catholic religion, attended a Catholic school. This was a very somber day every year, I remember stopping for a moment of silence at 3 in the afternoon, and I would think of this supreme being, named Jesus, who gave his life for us. Looking back now I realize that this day and all of the Catholic practices is just what I needed growing up. It gave me a sense of security that I was missing when my Mom would get sick and have to go away, it gave me a conscious and instilled in me right from wrong. And even though as I grew, I grew away from this religion, it was the beginning of my spirituality. I have carried with me what I have needed from it's teachings and left the rest. Most importantly, I do my best to live by their golden rule, "Do unto others as you would have them do unto you". So even though I use to complain that I had to go to church and attend the Catholic school, today I'm thankful that my parents started me off with this religion. I am a better person for it. I use to have the album Jesus Christ Superstar so I thought I would share a couple of my favorite songs from it. I'm pretty sure Day by Day was on there?? Ya, I know I'm showing my age LOL! If not it was one I liked in my Catholic years and still do today :) This is the first time I have seen the videos of the songs too, pretty good performances from the movies. I hope you enjoy them,

Developing Patience, Tolerance
Hi Everyone, I hope your doing well this Monday, I am doing good. In a world that is becoming more accustomed to instant gratification, patience has become a value that is disappearing. For example I was watching CK Louis "Hilarious" and in his skit he was talking about how he was standing next to this kid with his cell phone, and the kid had a slight meltdown because his text took a couple of seconds longer than it should have. The kid started cursing Verizon, how it sucked, blah, blah, blah! CK was saying,(and I fully agree with him) this is an example of how many of us have become so impatient with everything, because it wasn't that long ago we had to use phones with no push buttons and cords. And remember what a Bitch it was to call someone who had a lot of 0's in their phone number, ya I know most of you remember LOL! I know I need to practice these skills everyday to help me remember Patience, now more than ever, as my life has been put on hold for a while. I hope some of these skills help you if you need a reminder too.
Thanks for visiting my blog,
Love ya,
Janet :)
"The key to everything is patience. You get the chicken by hatching the egg, not by smashing it." - Arnold H. Glasgow
Patience means the ability and willingness to endure waiting without complaining or being upset when faced with a difficult or challenging situation. Being patient is a virtue because it is a respectable quality.
Being tolerant does not mean that you allow yourself to tolerate anything that someone does or accepts everything without questioning. It is not about complacency and does not mean that you accept whatever happens in your life without attempting to change. You wait and accept any delay only after you have done your best and the right thing.
Practice acceptance
At times people disappoint you. Many times your expectation takes time to materialize. No matter how bleak or slow things seem to move, remember that the dark waiting hour is still 60 minutes. It is not what happens that matter but how you react.
Do something constructive while waiting. It keeps your mind and your time occupied and helps you avoid unnecessary stress from worrying and getting yourself uptight. Remind yourself that sometimes it takes a longer time to reach your outcome, see changes or be accepted.
Practice Forbearance
Stay unperturbed when annoyed or provoked. Bear in mind that little things affect little minds as Benjamin Disraeli quoted. Your ability to always remain cool and unruffled from people who poke and push you shows a high level of tolerance and gives you an advantage over them.
Everyone has his own ways of seeing and interpreting things and each one is the product of his own attitude and values. Even if you disagree with someone, give the person the chance to vent out his anger. What he does to you may only show that he is trying to get or compensate for the lack in his life.
Other people can't break you. Only you can do that to yourself. By maintaining poise and composure, you separate yourself from the crowd.
Cultivate faith
Difficulties and tragedies happen to teach and test your faith. Believe that there is an advantage behind every misfortune, that there is a silver lining. Stay calm when you are faced with adversities. Find methods or seek advice to help you cope. You can use the experience to challenge yourself to stay strong and become closer to your creator.

Goofing Off!
Hi Everyone, Happy Saturday! As usual I feel like having a few laughs and goofing off today. In fact that is how I have been feeling for the most part all week. Sorry I did not get to posting any spiritual or inspirational posts this week, and I think someone is trying to tell me to get back on track because I just had two men with Jesus pamphlets in their hands knock on my door LOL! I had the most laughs yesterday with my grandchildren, the sound of children's laughter is absolutely the best. I am really starting to bond with Christopher in the way I have with Briana. I was worried about that because I haven't been able to drive down their house once a week like I use to, but we have managed to get together enough so he has come to really love his Mimi :) I can't believe he is already going to be a year soon, time just fly's. I wish I had some video of him too, but my droid battery won't charge!! Anyway, I hope you don't mind some more Tosh.O videos, I spent the morning looking around for some other funny ones, but IMO his still seem to be the funniest and they are short. Enjoy, and have a great Saturday :)

Take A Holiday & Celebrate!
Hi Everyone, I hope you are doing good today, I am doing great :) The sun is shining, and it is getting warmer out here! I am feeling so upbeat because I have plans after my morning group to go out to lunch with some new girlfriends. After feeling couped up for so long this winter, it feels almost like I'm taking a holiday from the daily grind and it makes me want to dance and celebrate. (Yes I am that easily excited, sad but true LOL!) So I thought I would share my favorite version of Holiday by Madonna! I hope it makes you want to celebrate your day too:) Now like Mo sings, I gotta go "Do the Bus Stop" and get my ass to another fun filled group (not)! Have a great day!

I got this joke from a friend in my email
today, thought you might get a little laugh
out of it!
Old Love Between and Husband and Wife!
I was in my back yard trying to fly a kite.
I threw the kite up in the air, the wind would catch it for a few seconds,
then it would come crashing back down to earth.
I tried this a few more times with no success.
All the while, my wife is watching from the kitchen window,
muttering to herself how men need to be told how to do everything.
She opens the window and yelled to me,
'You need a piece of tail.'
I turned with a confused look on my face and said,
'Make up your mind. Last night, you told me to go fly a kite.'

Jungle Love
Hi Everyone, Happy Music Monday! Music and laughter are always a sure way to lift my spirits back up! I'm sure they do the same for you. So as I was looking around for a song today I came across this song I love with clips from the movie Jay and Silent Bob Strike Back, I loved that goofy movie. So I got my music and laughter that I needed today! When I watched the video, I realized too that I had forgotten how many stars were in it, you'll get a laugh out of watching them in the video :) I included the full song too, I think it is their performance in Purple Rain. Enjoy the videos and have a great Monday!

Suck It Saturday!!
Hi Everyone, I hope you are having a great weekend. I was remembering something that happened last year because of a recent situation in my life, and all my Zen and loving kindness has gone out the window! I want and need to vent. I hope you don't mind! To make a long story short, there are these three people I just hate for different reasons. One for making A PHONE CALL to the wrong people about me because he was such a stupid COWARD and couldn't think to do something else, like call my husband, no, a mutual friend, no. That one phone call has ruined mine and my families life on so many levels, I can't even tell you all of it, one thing I'll tell you is it has hurt my ability to get a job. The effects of that one call have a rippled effect that just seem to go on. The other two are these women who were the biggest Tattle Tails I have ever met and ratted me out to my husband every chance they could. And one of them was the "other women" when I first met her, wonder how she would have liked it if I did that to her! If they were to read this I know what they would say, it's all my own fault, yada, yada, yada. I know that, but there were other ways to deal with me then calling on me. Like for example, talking to me, or going to the courts first, instead of in the second place, or maybe, just maybe, even helping me as I was heading for rock bottom. But NO! that would have been to much effort, may have even taken some caring from someone who I thought was once a friend, but turned out to be the coldest meanest person I have ever known. They obviously felt, even though I'm just a human being, I did not deserve any compassion or help, not in the least! I'm sure my issues kept them from looking at their own, so why stop that! They are probably even happy beyond belief for my circumstances right now. Thrilled in fact, that is what sick, motherfucking asshole losers they truly are. They have their issues with booze and pot, so they are no better than anyone, even though they seem to think so. I wish I never crossed their paths in life. Karma will catch up to them, I have faith in that! Ok done venting, and Aaaaah, Patti aka Raven, your right, it does feel good to let it out! You have got to check out her blog, http://stuperheroextraordinaire.blogspot.com/ I just love her, she tells it like it is and has given me the inspiration to do the same, keep those great posts coming Patti!! And for you my regular readers, I wanted you to know that if a caption reads,“GAY TEST or anything GAY in the funny images or posters I may post, it simply means that a guy has failed the said test by ignoring the girl/s in the poster or any similar idea, which would implie that the guy is probably gay. Most of all my friends, these posters are made to give a dig at one of those people I hate. So to everyone else, no offense. I have no problem with anyone who is gay. Thanks for your understanding :) And now that I feel better and considering it is Saturday, we still need to have some laughs right, right!! So here you go! I was busy on Friday and wanted to do FAWK YOU FRIDAY to vent, maybe next week, so that is why I came up with Suck it Saturday LOL!
Thanks for visiting my blog,

Compassion
Hi Everyone, I have been reading the Teachings of Buddha today. They always bring me back to a better state of being, happier and more enlightened you might say :) I personally feel we have become so much of a "me" society that we are lacking in compassion for one another. Lack of compassion can leave others in need feeling isolated and lonely. This is a good reminder for me, I hope it does the same for you.
Thanks for visiting my blog,
Love ya,
Janet :)
The Dalai Lama teachings on compassion:
The definition of compassion is: wanting others to be free from suffering. So compassion is the definition of the highest scope of motivation. It is said that to generate genuine compassion, one needs to realise that oneself is suffering, that an end to suffering is possible, and that other beings similarly want to be free from suffering.
"Nirvana may be the final object of attainment, but at the moment it is difficult to reach. Thus the practical and realistic aim is compassion, a warm heart, serving other people, helping others, respecting others, being less selfish. By practising these, you can gain benefit and happiness that remain longer. If you investigate the purpose of life and, with the motivation that results from this inquiry, develop a good heart - compassion and love. Using your whole life this way, each day will become useful and meaningful."
"Every human being has the same potential for compassion; the only question is whether we really take any care of that potential, and develop and implement it in our daily life. My hope is that more and more people will realize the value of compassion, and so follow the path of altruism-(unselfish regard for or devotion to the welfare of others).
"Compassion without attachment is possible. Therefore, we need to clarify the distinctions between compassion and attachment. True compassion is not just an emotional response but a firm commitment founded on reason. Because of this firm foundation, a truly compassionate attitude toward others does not change even if they behave negatively. Genuine compassion is based not on our own projections and expectations, but rather on the needs of the other: irrespective of whether another person is a close friend or an enemy, as long as that person wishes for peace and happiness and wishes to overcome suffering, then on that basis we develop genuine concern for their problem. This is genuine compassion.
Compassion is not at all weak. It is the strength that arises out of seeing the true nature of suffering in the world. Compassion allows us to bear witness to that suffering, whether it is in ourselves or others, without fear; it allows us to name injustice without hesitation, and to act strongly, with all the skill at our disposal. To develop this mind state of compassion...is to learn to live, as the Buddha put it, with sympathy for all living beings, without exception."

Old Man
Hi Everyone, How are ya, I am doing good! Every now and again don't we all get stuck in our own stuff, so to speak, you know, feeling sorry for ourselves, because life does not work the way we want it to for us! Personally I have a lot this past year, with no job, no license, just feeling so trapped and useless, hopeless. And part of my poor me attitude is that every week since last December, I have had to go to a court ordered group in Plymouth Ma. It's been so great (not), getting off the bus and then walking in the friggin cold, with the wind whipping off the waterfront!! it just sucks!! If you read my "Spanky Time" Post back in December, you know what I'm talking about. But then something happened this week, that I needed to happen, to make me even more aware of my self absorbed, oh poor me thinking. As I walked to get the bus home, this older man that I have seen a few times before near the bus stop, but have never interacted with, and is obviously homeless, with his heavy coat and three hat's underneath his hood, along with his torn gloves and cheeks that are dark red, looked up at me and was gracious enough to say, "Hi, Good Afternoon" with a smile on his face! "Wow" is all I could feel and think at that moment. Could I be so gracious if I was in his shoes? Could I even smile, doubt it. I can't imagine what he has endured, freezing nights on the streets, the poor man, my heart just broke for him. He helped bring me back to a place of gratitude, I don't think I have ever been so happy before to hop on a bus, cause I have a home to go to, so what if I can't drive for a little while! So what if I don't have a job right now, things will eventually change, I just have to remember that this is a bump in the road, and it won't last forever! I will drive again, I will find a job. My life will come back together. So I thought I would share "Life is A Gift" with all of you to help you get out of your stuff if you need to, and remember all that is good, especially if you don't have an older homeless man to do it for you, like I did :)
Thanks for visiting my blog,
Love ya,
Janet :)
Life is A Gift
Today before you think of saying an unkind word – Think of someone who can’t speak.
Before you complain about the taste of your food – Think of someone who has nothing to eat.
Before you complain about your husband or wife – Think of someone who’s crying out for a companion.
Today before you complain about life – Think of someone who went too early to heaven/hell.
Before you complain about your children – Think of someone who desires children but they’re barren.
Before you argue about your dirty house, someone didn’t clean or sweep – Think of the people who are living in the streets.
Before whining about the distance you drive – Think of someone who walks the same distance with their feet.
And when you are tired and complain about your job – Think of the unemployed, the disabled and those who wished they had your job.
But before you think of pointing the finger or condemning another – Remember that not one of us are without sin and we all answer to one maker.
And when depressing thoughts seem to get you down – Put a smile on your face and thank — you’re alive and still around
Life is a gift – Live it, Enjoy it, Celebrate it, And Fulfill it.
